Log of the Cruise – Saint Lucia 4th December 2016





(The following log features extracts from the Ship’s Official Log Book, with the entries recorded by the Officer of the Watch on the Navigational Bridge - 10-Day Eastern Caribbean - November, 30 - December, 10, 2016)

 During the night and early morning we set a number of south and south-easterly courses as we made our way to Saint Lucia. We picked up the pilot approximately 1.5 nautical miles (1.73 Statute miles) from the berth and we were alongside in Saint Lucia by 07:11. In the evening, when all our lines were on-board and all pre-departure checks has been completed, we thrusted off the berth and began our passage towards Barbados. We set an initial south course and then altered to a south-easterly course after we passed to the south of Saint Lucia. We then passed across the North Caribbean Ocean.

Log of the Cruise – Antigua 3rd December 2016





(The following log features extracts from the Ship’s Official Log Book, with the entries recorded by the Officer of the Watch on the Navigational Bridge - 10-Day Eastern Caribbean - November, 30 - December, 10, 2016)

 Overnight and early Wednesday morning, Royal Princess set several south-easterly courses towards Antigua, passing to the north of Saba Island before setting a south-easterly course passing to the north of St. Eustatius and St. Kitts. With the pilot embarked at 07:08, courses were set to transit the narrow west channel into St. John's harbour. After we enjoyed our day in Antigua and all passengers were on board, Royal Princess "let go" her lines and commenced moving astern until we were out of the harbour, before swinging the ship bow to starboard and stern to port. Once clear of the channel and with the pilot disembarked, Royal Princess set several south south-easterly courses toward Saint Lucia.

 Throughout the previous night and early this morning, Royal Princess continued on her course of 120 degrees over the North Atlantic Ocean towards the north east coast of Puerto Rico. Below the Keel, we had over 5000 meters (16000 ft), as we transited over the Nares Abyssal Plain. Once we were north of Puerto Rico, we headed for the island of Anegada, where we then altered our course to starboard and passed Saint Maarten on our port side. Weather experienced during the day:

 Early this morning, Royal Princess transited the North West Providence Channel passing the Bahamas on her port side. From here, Royal Princess continued on a south-easterly course out into the North Atlantic Ocean passing the Eleuthera Islands. We then continued on down the coast of the Windward Island's which was on our starboard side throughout the day, one of which being Grand Turk.

Log of the Cruise – Port Everglades 30th November 2016

 At 04:45LT Royal Princess will make her final approach to Port Everglades through Bar Cut Channel, where the local pilot boarded at 05:00LT. Our stern will then swing to starboard and her bow to port where she will thrust bodily to starboard to gently come alongside the berth. With all lines fast at 06:00LT and the gangways rigged and ready, the passenger disembarkation will commence. From the Captain, Officers and all the crew on the Royal Princess, we hope you have enjoyed your cruise and we look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

 At 16:08 we "let go" all our lines, moved off the berth and made our way out of the harbor waters through the buoyed channel. At 16:32, we disembarked our pilot and set an easterly course through the Straits of Florida. In the evening, we passed Great Isaac Island on our starboard side, entered the Northwest Providence Channel and set an east south-easterly course. Very late that evening, Royal Princess passed Great Stirrup Cay on her starboard side with a distance of approximately 5 nautical miles (5.75 statute miles).

 On departure from Grand Turk yesterday, Royal Princess set a northwesterly course through the Nares Abyssal Plain (Atlantic Ocean) after passing the island of Puerto Rico on the port side. Throughout today, we will continue on a northwesterly course passing north of the Caicos and Turk Islands.

 After maintaining our Southeasterly course for the majority of the night and the morning, Royal Princess made her way to the Southern point of Grand Turk before making a final approach to her berth. After we have enjoyed our day in port and it has been confirmed that all crew and passengers are onboard, Royal Princess set a north-westerly course heading for Port Everglades.

Grand Turk with Royal Princess

Log of the Cruise – Princess Cays 27th November 2016





(The following log features extracts from the Ship’s Official Log Book, with the entries recorded by the Officer of the Watch on the Navigational Bridge - 4-Day East Caribbean Sampler - November, 26 - November, 30, 2016)

 After departure from Port Everglades, Royal Princess set south-easterly courses through the North West Providence Channel. Once in the channel, south-easterly courses took us through the North East Providence Channel to the Northern tip of Eleuthera Island. We then navigated along the coast of the island at a range of approximately 6 nautical miles to Eleuthera Point. When in position, we cleared away the anchor and the order to "let go the anchor" was given at 08:28 LT. Soon after, when it had been deemed safe, the ship tenders were be made ready for our continuous tender service ashore. At 16:27 LT, with all tenders re-secured we "heaved up" our anchor and we set a south-easterly course on our way to Grand Turk.

 At 16:14 LT, with confirmation of all passengers and crew onboard and with all our pre-sailing checks complete, Royal Princess "let go" her lines, and maneuvered slowly off the berth and comenced navigation through the narrow buoyed channel through the Straits of Florida. That evening, we passed Great Isaac Island on our starboard side, entered the Northwest Providence Channel and set an eas-south-easterly course.
